Gioachino Rossini was a Italian composer who is best known for his operas like The Barber of Seville. Raised by two musical parents, he spent many happy hours at operatic performances, both in the orchestra pit and onstage. In his spare time, Rossini wrote extra opera overtures and then put the music in his cookie jar to store them. He wrote over 30 operas over the course of his liftetime in addition to chamber music and church music. He had a gregarious personality and loved hosting parties where he would cook and tell jokes. Best known works are The Barber of Seville and The William Tell Overture.
